(goes in order)
The paintings from Medieval times were definitely not as advanced as the ones from the Renaissance period. Their brushes and paints were the same but their way in drawing and texture was different. They were dull and boring; as if no life to it and looking more like a sketch. In contrast however, during the Renaissance, there was an update check that forever made an influence to the art known today. By having shadowing and extra features that make them standout. The artistic skill had surely gone up.
The themes in both these time periods were very similar; having to do with the same things like Jesus and the Virgin Mary. The first painting above is of a woman holding a child in her arms. The main effect, my opinion, is in her eyes and the baby holding her finger. The second painting is of the crucification of Christ. I think I would be able to draw that! And, I’m possibly the worst drawer in the world
. His stomach is so awkward and the rest is just TOO plain.
Oooooh , ahhhhhh. The Renaissance UPGRADE! The third painting is of the same woman in the first one but you can completely tell the difference. It has a lot more detail and has a background view which is a plus. But in both of them, you can see the connection of a mother and son. The last painting is of Christ getting baptized on a sunny day. The hillside behind him is great and the figures of his body are much more accurate. I think that by the white dove above his head it signifies how he brought peace everywhere. In both the images of Jesus, you can tell straightaway that it is him.. like some kind of presence.
